It is so charming to me that so many people have realized they value music so much that they prioritize ways to preserve their music if things ever go to shit. If that isn't a testament to the human experience idk what is
In my mind, music is the peak of human expression. Its height is completely unmatched. Its ability works for a single listener or musician, or a group of listeners and a band. Scale both ad infinitum.
I've followed r/cyberdeck for a bit but I love how tiktok has grabbed onto all sorts of different and more "feminine" ones than I'd seen on there. It's a nice change.
I love watching people build cyberdecks even if I never will. (Or really build anything.)
There's a Spanish kid (who's probably 12) who made a wearable cyberdeck because he hates his school's laptops and cell phones are banned in school. "I Made A Wearable Computer To Bypass The Law" is the video by Flamethrower.
This was a fantastic read! You lured me in with the anime banner. I really enjoy cyberpunk. What I love is the trend against manufactured tech and making it personal. Great job with this!
What a fantastic concept and a wonderful read! I'm particularly drawn to the cyberpunk elements. There's something truly amazing about building technology into something personal, just for the sheer joy of it.
THis is great and with AI very easy to get your head around. Simple use cases would be relatively risk free as well. But the QA overhead is huge. In software development QA is a vital step and must be carried out properly to prevent things falling apart. So for higher risk use cases like, writing a document you want to work on. If the thing breaks or the entire document is corrupted, the use case sort of falls to pieces. Still being able to be away from all the integrated AI tech coming our way not to mention everything else is enticing and these cyberdecks look really neat. But the overhead on dev and QA even with AI is still high. However you can certainly see a point in the future where that issue disappears. Someone in the comments mentioned an mp3 player, I miss the old apple mp3 decks, I know you can get them second hand but they do cost a fortune!
this is so interesting and sucked me into r/cyberdeck. im not sure if i'll actually get around to making one but it'll definitely be on my mind! ive been really into digital typewriters, which is sort of adjacent to these i think. great read!!
My cyberdeck list also includes a high amount of MP3’s. Incase of apocalyptic events.
